Miley Can't be Tamed

There has been one name recently that has been the talk of social media, pop culture and the music industry, and she is not Hannah Montana anymore. Miley Cyrus has had people turning heads, and closing their eyes as shes been preforming half naked and controversial shows lately. Now, I didn't want my first actual blog post to be about Miley, but I couldn't help myself because she is all over the news right now.
She has been changed her image drastically within the past year, and it isn't necessarily for the better. I get it, she doesn't want to be seen as Hannah Montana for the rest of her life, and wants the world to see that she is now a 20 pop star, not a tween Disney channel star. However, her approach to changing her image is a little over the top. It started a few months ago when she shaved her head and went blonde, (looking like Draco Malfoy), getting a lot of tattoos and wearing um lets see... barely any clothes. Then her VMA performance left people talking; as a matter of fact, they are still talking. The half naked, tongue out, twerking Miley made a lot of jaws drop all around the country. Within seconds, she was trending, and not many positive things were being said. Recently, her "Wrecking Ball" video was released which also turned a lot of heads considering she was once again half naked, oh and making out with a sledgehammer while swinging naked from a wrecking ball. Classic 2013 Miley. Many people truly love and can connect with the song. I personally think it is a great song with relatable lyrics,  but I wasn't really sure how I felt about the song while watching the video.
Last week, Miley had a very emotional performance at the iHeartRadio Music Festival, because it was her first performance since her break up.  Although she was half naked, she did have a very emotional performance and I have to give her credit, because she was truly into the song. She was crying throughout the song, but many people were able to connect. Her emotions were raw, and I respect her for getting through the song. You could tell she was getting her feelings out through her lyrics, and it was pretty cool to see. Miley's Emotional Performance
